The LSU-Corbidi team on our 2023 expedition to the Cordillera Azul, Huánuco, Peru, which found over 50 bird species not previously known from the national park.
Field Expeditions
During my time as a Ph.D. student at Louisiana State University, I participated in ornithological expeditions to Peru (twice, in collaboration with the Centro de Ornitología y Biodiversidad, the conservation organization CIMA, and local Indigenous communities) and Colombia (with the Instituto Humboldt and local Afro-Colombian communities), and led collecting trips in Louisiana, Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama.
Prior to arriving at LSU, I conducted fieldwork in Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, and Guyana on a variety of projects. This work resulted in a publications on the phylogeography of the Rufous-fronted Thornbird and the biodiversity of the Colombian llanos.
Museum Ornithology Collections
Much of my research depends on the incredible wealth of data preserved in museum specimens, so I believe it is critical to continue building and maintaining modern ornithological collections. The field expeditions that I participated in at LSU yielded over 1500 bird specimens, deposited at the LSU Museum of Natural Science, the Centro de Ornitología y Biodiversidad in Peru, and the Instituto Humboldt in Colombia. I personally prepared over 250 of these.
I also worked for three years as a curatorial assistant in the genetic resources division of the LSU Museum of Natural Science, where I fulfilled loans – cutting thousands of tissue subsamples in the process – for researchers around the globe.

Participatory Science
I am an avid contributor to participatory science platforms like eBird and iNaturalist, in addition using data from these archives in my own research. Below, you can explore the photos, audio recordings, and sightings that I have uploaded. Counts are updated as of January 2026.
iNaturalist (18,811 observations)
eBird (2,504 complete checklists)
Macaulay Library (7,989 photos and audio recordings)
